“Tension, back pain, headaches are lessening. Trust is growing!”
I trusted no one
Many years of back pain and headaches brought me to seek chiropractic care as my only hope, but life experience taught me to trust no one.
So, in the midst of this mental conflict, I was introduced to Dr. Marc, my new chiropractor, and entered the entrainment room.
One thing worried me above all else
This was not my first adjustment – I had become familiar with many different techniques. I dreaded the neck adjustment and told him so.
Rigid with the tension I had grown to accept as normal. I positioned myself on the table and braced every nerve and muscle for the assault.
The term relaxation had long since left my vocabulary (in fact I slept. not peacefully in bed, but hovering about one foot over it.) Thus, I could not get comfortable or lie still on the table.
Doctor as Guide, not Boss
Fortunately, I was given permission to “move however you feel you need to” and I did – constantly twisting, turning, and fidgeting.
Dr. Marc explained that Network Chiropractic integrated work with the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems…
The beginning of new trust
My first impression (of him)…was articulated by a sudden triggered memory of the motto on my son’s college Karate shirt “He walks in gentle strength”. Over time, this proved to be an accurate decision.
I learned I had more control than I ever realized
He told me, “You hold a tremendous amount of tension and, if you are interested, I could teach your body to release it”. “Yeah right, more power to you”, was my unspoken reaction.
But, in case this was possible, and because this visit had given me a taste of relaxation as well as a much lessened headache, I said, “Sure, I’d like to try it.”
Easy does it
The program begins with a month of twelve visits. The idea is to teach the body a little at a time and to process the information and release the tension, rather than giving large doses spaced at long intervals.
Tension began to release!
The next several weeks brought many positive changes. As I learned to breathe properly, my headaches became less sever and easily manageable.
Back pain only surfaced occasionally, sleep became restful and as I became more flexible and less tense, I was comfortable remaining still on the table.
Then the empowerment began!
Through replies to my comments, I found Dr. Marc to be completely non-judgmental and accepting of all. Friends who followed my recommendation and also went for chiropractic care had similar experiences and plan to return.
When during an adjustment he asked, “May I adjust your neck?”, I was able to reply truthfully, “Go ahead.” You’ve won my trust and there are very few people I can say that about.”
Regaining control over my life
The feelings of well-being developed gradually and some so subtly that I almost didn’t recognize them. An awareness of breathing and the lessening of pain or stiffness are obvious.
But others, such as decreased anxiety, I did not appreciate until returning to a place I had been when extremely stressed and feeling the difference now, with much of the tension gone.
Marc guides my body to where it already knows to go
Often, I feel extreme tightness in my chest, and that too happens much less frequently now. With good health becoming a reality, I told Dr. Marc, “You certainly have the magic touch.” He replied, “I don’t do anything. Your body is brilliant. It knows what to do and how to process the information.”
Well, whatever the phenomenon, I could never thank you enough for the wonderful changes you have set in motion.
